Ferrari by Officine Panerai
I don’t think certain brands of watches lend themselves very well to certain brands of cars.
Take the Ferrari watch by Officine Panerai – it is trying too hard (however, Breitling and Bentley is a fantastic fit). We all know that the Ferrari car is an Italian Icon, a fine piece of kit with great brand loyalty, passion, a driving machine packaged with a stunning sound track.
On the other hand, we have the Panerai, another Italian icon which is currently enjoying an international renaissance, and it is probably one of the coolest watch brands you could own.
So put them together and you would expect to get a cool watch – but you don’t.
To me, if you have a Ferrari, why do you need to say you have a Ferrari by wearing a Ferrari watch – the key fob would be enough.
Lets say you cannot afford to buy a Ferrari, then why buy the watch of a car you cannot afford – just get a Panerai as it is cool in its own right, or I would be looking at something like an IWC Big Pilots watch, a U-Boat, or one of the many stunning tourbillon movements out there, if you have that kind of cash – there are some very cool watches to have.
So in my opinion (and it is only my opinion), the Ferrari Panerai is NOT a cool watch, but it is a very good watch that is extremely well made. Your call!
