What watch is cool ?

There is much debate these days over products, as to what is cool, and what is not! The BIG Watch Company knows the difference and was set up to bring cool watches to the UK. I will use my experience and eye to guide you in what I think is a cool watch and what I think is not! And if on the odd occasion it goes beyond cool, I’ll call it ‘The DOGG!’

Whether a watch is cool or not, has no reflection on the quality and prestige of the brand. It is merely down to how the watch looks, and how it fits in with today’s lifestyle. A cool watch could be anything from the Seiko Orange Monster, to a Panerai, to the IWC Portuguese or the Breguet double Tourbillion.

Over time, I will discuss all these brands, models and many others, as to me, the nice thing about watches or watch collecting, is that there are all different types to suit everyone’s individual needs and personality (work, social, sport and just to suit your changes in fashion) – much like a car. However there is a major advantage in owning watches, it costs much less to have a collection, both in the purchase price and the upkeep – although you can easily spend a 6 or 7 figure sum on a watch.

Another point to discuss when it comes to what is cool and what is not: Where do Fashion House watches fit, are they cool?

Of course not, why would you bother! Why buy a clone when for the same price you can buy something that is unique, cool and good quality? Don’t get me wrong, fashion houses have a place, of course they do – and because they are leaders in style and quality they make billions of pounds in sales, but that place isn’t in your ‘cool’ watch collection. However, if you do want a fashion house watch – again, go for something a little more unique.

My own view is that I want to wear a watch that suits my needs/mood or fashion for the day, and it is nice to have a choice. E.G. when I sit on a train and look at what watches the average male is wearing, it is either a general Seiko/Casio watch, a cheap fashion watch (DandG, Next…), or if they have splashed out, then it is a Tag Hauer (and not even a Monaco which is cool!). Whilst all these watches are good at what they do – tell the time – there is no individuality or point of difference. I personally like to see or wear a watch that is a little different and we hope you do too – hence the BIG Watch Company.

The BIG Watch Company will help you to determine, what is best for your watch collection - what is cool and what is not.

I will leave you with that, enjoy our site!
